A pair of Bullants legends Bernard Geary and David Haynes have been formally recognised as life members of the Preston Football Club.

Club President Neil Howard spoke highly of Bernie and Dave as they were presented with their life membership during Friday night's Laurie Hill medal count at the Genis Steel Oval function centre.

Bernard Geary was born to be a Preston man. In his youth he played in the club’s under-19s, playing 27 games before he was pushed towards a potential career at Collingwood.

But, as the dust settles upon the boy born and bred on Murray Road, Bernie ingrained himself into the fabric of the Bullants. Over a 52-year span, he coached the club’s under-19s for four seasons, coached the reserves team for four seasons, and was a Board member at the Club for eight years.

The surname of Geary is synonymous with the Club. He has lived and breathed it, and we are honoured to have him as part of our brickwork.

David Haynes has been volunteering at the Bullants for 14 years, making the commute from Werribee weekly.

Rain, hail or shine you will see Dave sitting at the gate allowing patrons through the gates at Cramer Street. We are extremely grateful for the unwavering commitment he has shown the club.
